Welcome to the NASA International Space Apps Challenge – Mountain View 2025!
This year’s theme, “Learn, Launch, Lead,” invites innovators worldwide to use NASA’s open data to solve real-world challenges for Earth and space.
For one inspiring weekend at NASA Ames Research Center, participants will collaborate in diverse teams, blending science, art, technology, and imagination. Whether you’re a student, professional, or enthusiast — no matter your background — you’ll find a place to learn new skills, launch bold ideas, and lead your community toward a brighter future.
🛠️ Tools and TechnologiesTeams are free to use any tools, technologies, and platforms that best support their solutions. This may include:
-
Programming languages (Python, JavaScript, C#, etc.)
-
Data visualization tools
-
AI/ML frameworks
-
Design software for mockups, graphics, and storytelling
-
Hardware prototypes (if available)
Most importantly, you’ll have access to NASA’s open data repositories and other global space agency datasets — the foundation of the Space Apps Challenge.
Mentors will also be available to help guide you on data use, technical hurdles, and creative approaches.
🌟 InspirationThe Space Apps Challenge is more than a hackathon — it’s a global movement of problem-solvers. Past teams have:
-
Discovered new ways to visualize NASA climate data 🌍
-
Created games to inspire the next generation of explorers 🎮
-
Developed tools for astronauts and mission planners 🚀
-
Built prototypes that evolved into startups and real-world applications 💡
Let the challenges inspire you 👉 2025 NASA Space Apps Challenges — and remember, creativity, collaboration, and curiosity are just as important as technical skills.
